Isabel Díaz Ayuso presents Master Battery with the Madrid 2024 SME of the Year Award
The award, organised by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, recognises Master Battery's efforts in areas such as reindustrialisation, innovation, digitalisation, international expansion, sustainability and respect for the environment.
• The CEOs, Héctor Plaza and Juan Carlos Hernández, on behalf of the entire Master Battery team, expressed their gratitude for this recognition, noting that it is ‘a source of pride for a company born in the Community of Madrid and encourages us to continue growing’.
• Seventy-three companies competed in the eighth edition of the award. The event was attended by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid; José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid; Ángel Asensio, President of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce; Luis Isasi, President of Santander Spain; and Isabel Puig, President of the SME Commission of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
Madrid (Spain) 07.10.24.- Master Battery, a company specialising in the manufacture of batteries and energy storage systems for self-consumption and electromobility, has received the Madrid 2024 SME of the Year Award. These awards are organised by the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Banco Santander, with the collaboration of El País.
The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, presented the award to Héctor Plaza and Juan Carlos Hernández, CEOs of Master Battery. During her speech, she congratulated the award winners, stressing that they are ‘an example of hard work, effort and know-how’. He also stressed that ‘we are building the best Madrid in our recent history, being the fifth richest region in Europe’.
Héctor Plaza and Juan Carlos Hernández, in their words of thanks, pointed out that ‘the award is a recognition of the entire Master Battery team for their efforts to generate employment and wealth, for promoting reindustrialisation, training, digitalisation, innovation and our international expansion’. And they referred to the launch of Master Battery in Mexico and the creation of the Master Battery Chair at the Polytechnic University of Madrid for research into energy storage.
Both CEOs highlighted Master Battery's commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment in its business activity, pointing out that they have adopted ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria as an opportunity to be more efficient and sustainable. And within the Corporate Social Responsibility actions, they presented Ciudadenergía, a space open to society and the educational community.
Plaza and Hernández were very proud to receive the award ‘for being Master Battery, a company created in Madrid that takes on the challenge, like the other award winners, of being economic engines in the business fabric of the community’ and called for ‘greater involvement of public administrations so that SMEs become large, generate more employment and wealth, and are more efficient and sustainable’.
The SMEs of today will be the big companies of tomorrow
Ángel Asensio, president of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, pointed out that these awards are a tribute to business excellence and to the courage of those who undertake and do not give up in the face of difficulties. ‘The SMEs of today will be the great companies of tomorrow, taking the Spain brand around the world and paving the way for others to follow their example,’ he said.
Master Battery will compete for the National SME of the Year Award 2024, the winner of which will be chosen from among the winners from each province. The result will be announced at an event to be held in Madrid in early 2025
